Punjab firing incident: Inspector General Umernangal reinstated

Chandigarh, July 11 (Reporter) Punjab Inspector General (IG) Paramraj Umernangal, who was suspended when named in a first information report (FIR) in connection with Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan shooting incident in 2015, was reinstated on Thursday. The Punjab government reinstated Umernangal as per a direction issued by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in February. An order by the Punjab government said that he will report to the police chief for assignment of duties until regular posting orders are issued. On October 14, 2015, police opened fire at people protesting at Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan against an alleged sacrilege incident that had taken place at Bargari in Faridkot district. Two people were killed in the firing in Behbal Kalan while several others were injured in Kotkapura...////...
