Hoshiarpur (Punjab), Jan 27 (Reporter) Five men died in a fatal road accident involving their Maruti car near Uchi Bassi, on the Jalandhar-Pathankot GT road on Friday night. SI Harprem Singh, Dasuya police station, said on Saturday the victims were travelling in their car from Jalandhar towards Mukerian. When they reached near village Unchi Bassi, an unknown vehicle collided with their car, causing it to hit the road divider and subsequently collide with a truck traveling in the opposite direction on the wrong side of the road. The impact was so severe that the car caught fire. Four occupants of the car lost their lives on the spot. The lone survivor was rushed to Civil Hospital, Dasuya, where he succumbed to his injuries Saturday morning. The driver of the truck, identified as Sushil Kumar from Karnal, Haryana, also lost control of his vehicle, resulting in it overturning on the road at some distance. Sushil Kumar sustained injuries and was initially admitted to Civil Hospital, Dasuya, before being referred to a higher medical institution.
