Hoshiarpur (Punjab), Dec 24 (Reporter) The Hoshiarpur district police on Monday registered five separate First Information Reports (FIRs) in different police stations for allegedly spreading misinformation and hurting the sentiments of the SC and ST communities, police said.
The FIRs were lodged under sections 192, 336(4), 352, and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, sections 3(1)(r), 3(1)(u), and 3(1)(v) of the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and section 65of the Information Technology Act at the City, Hariana, Garhshankar, and Model Town police stations in this district.
According to the complaints, unidentified persons allegedly manipulated an old video clip of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and linked it misleadingly to the Indian Constitution, police said. In one of the FIRs registered at the Hariana police station, Vibhor Anand Admin, a resident of an unknown place, was named as an accused.
The complaints further claim that the act disrespects the Indian Constitution and its architect, Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, thereby hurting the sentiments of the SC/ST community. It is also alleged that the accused attempted to spread public unrest, deceive the public, and disrespect dignitaries from the SC community.
