Prof. Mohammad Shakeel assumes role of officiating vice chancellor of JMI

New Delhi, May 23 (Reporter) Prof. Mohammad Shakeel, the seniormost professor at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), has assumed the charge of officiating vice chancellor of the university. Prof. Shakeel will hold this position until a regular vice chancellor is appointed. Prof. Shakeel, from the Department of Civil Engineering, has an extensive academic background. He earned his B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), followed by a Ph.D. from the University of Roorkee. His association with JMI began in November 1986, when he joined as a lecturer. He was promoted to Reader in 1992 and then to Professor in 2000. Over the years, Prof. Shakeel has garnered significant teaching and research experience and has held various key administrative roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Controller of Examinations, Director of the Centre for Distance & Online Education, and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering. Upon taking charge, Prof. Shakeel expressed his commitment to safeguarding the interests of JMI at all levels. The university's teaching and non-teaching staff visited his office to congratulate him on his new role. In his first administrative decision as Officiating Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shakeel appointed Mr. M Nasim Haider, Deputy Registrar-I, as the Officiating Registrar of the university with immediate effect until further notice...////...
