Mathura (UP), Sep 19 (Reporter) Over 500 workers continued to work on a war-footing on Thursday to repair railway tracks damaged due to the derailment of a coal-laden train in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura while a probe was ordered into the previous night’s incident, officials said.
North Central Railway General Manager Upendra Chandra Joshi said committee will be constituted to investigate the cause of the accident between Vrindavan Road and Aajai stations.
On the possibility of sabotage, the GM said, "Nothing can be said about it right now and all this can be known only after investigation. Right now the priority is to clear the track because 25-26 coaches have overturned."
He said that about 30 trains have been affected due to the derailment of the goods train wagons around 9.30 pm on Wednesday. As the railway track is repaired, their number will decrease, he said.
Joshi said that accident relief trains have been called from Agra, Delhi and Moradabad to re-arrange the railway track.
He said that the goods train was carrying coal for the Panipat Power House.
