Ambala, Sep 30 (Reporter) Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday slammed the BJP for betraying the people of Haryana during its 10-year rule and said that the people have made up their mind to "throw BJP out and bring in Congress". Addressing a public meeting at the HUDA Ground in Naraingarh here, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “Haryana has received only big promises from the Modi government. BJP leaders are now again making new promises. The question is why did BJP not fulfill its promises while being in power for 10 years and why were the farmers, women, youth and wrestlers not heard?” She said that there was a wave in favour of Congress ahead of the October 5 Assembly election and this wave would protect the voters' self-respect. Urging the people of Haryana to vote for the grand old party, Priyanka said, “If you get influenced by someone and get divided, you will not get back your respect. The Constitution has given you the right to vote, you should use it very carefully. Congress is coming and BJP is going.” Accusing the BJP of neglecting the state, the Congress leader said, “Haryana has always protected the country. Your children go to the borders to protect the country and are ready to sacrifice their lives for the country. But... in return of keeping the entire country safe in the last 10 years, you got only insults. Farmers were lathicharged and tear gas shells were fired and, moreover, Haryana's youth were pushed into unemployment.” She also raised the issue of a protest by the wrestlers against sexual harassment and said, "Our players work hard in Haryana. They go to the Olympics and bring honours to the entire country. But when women wrestlers protest in Delhi, Prime Minister Modi does not even go to meet them. Leave alone going, he does not even ask what we can do to help you."
