Lucknow, Nov 25 (Reporter) Senior Congress leader and MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday blamed the state government for the incident of the clash over the survey of Jama Masjid in Sambhal and has demanded the intervention of the Supreme Court.
Earlier, Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati had also expressed concern over the Sambhal incident and demanded the intervention of the Supreme Court.
Taking to X Priyanka wrote, "The attitude of the state government regarding the sudden dispute in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh is very unfortunate. The way the administration acted in haste in such a sensitive matter without listening to the other side, and without taking both the parties into confidence, shows that the government itself spoiled the atmosphere. The administration did not even consider it necessary to follow the necessary procedure and duty. "
She said, "Sitting in power, trying to spread discrimination, oppression, and division is neither in the interest of the people nor in the interest of the country. The Honorable Supreme Court should take cognizance of this matter and do justice."
Earlier, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had called the survey on the mosque in Sambhal a conspiracy to spread tension and sought the intervention of the Supreme Court. He had appealed to the people of the state to maintain peace.
SP chief Akhilesh posted on X, “The Supreme Court should immediately take cognizance of the conspiracy to spread tension in the name of survey and a case of disturbing peace and harmony should be registered against those who took sloganeers with them with the aim of disturbing social harmony and the Bar Association should also take disciplinary and punitive action against them. There was no hope from the UP government and administration, nor is there any now.”
BSP supremo Mayawati said, “The news of the sudden controversy, hearing, and then the hasty survey immediately after that regarding the Shahi Jama Masjid of Sambhal district of UP is in the national discussion and media headlines, but the government and the Supreme Court should also take cognizance of disturbing harmony and atmosphere in this manner."
It may be noted that the team that went to conduct a re-survey of a mosque in Sambhal on the orders of the court was pelted with stones by people of a particular community. The frenzied mob set many vehicles on fire.
The police force dispersed the mob by using tear gas and lathi but in the ensuing firing, three people were killed while many others including policemen were injured. The death toll has risen to five as two more of the injured died Monday.
The district administration has shut down internet services and educational institutions in the Sambhal tehsil area as a precautionary measure. There is tense calm in the district and security forces are continuously patrolling...////...
