Moscow/New Delhi, Mar 27 (Reporter) Russian President Vladimir Putin is to visit India to hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced today, adding that arrangements for the visit are being worked out.
“Arrangements are currently being made for Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit India,” Russia’s top diplomat Lavrov, said in a video address to a conference titled ‘Russia and India: Toward a New Bilateral Agenda’ being hosted by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), Tass reported.
"[Russian] President Vladimir Putin has accepted an invitation to visit from the Indian head of government (PM Modi). A visit by the Russian head of state to the Republic of India is currently being prepared," Lavrov announced.
Lavrov also noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his first foreign visit to Russia upon his re-election last year. "Now it’s our turn," he said.
PM Modi had visited Moscow in July last year for the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit. The visit took place days after PM Modi was re-elected to the top office for the third consecutive term.
In May last year, Vladimir Putin took office as President of Russia for the fifth time, with his new six-year presidential term set to last until 2030.
Later in October last year, PM Modi and President Putin held bilateral talks again on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan in Russia...////...
