Shahjahanpur (UP), Nov 7 (Reporter) A 26-year-old youth accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl in the Kant area of Shahjahanpur district has been arrested in an encounter with police in which police personnel was also injured, a senior officer said here on Thursday. The girl was sleeping in her home with her family on Tuesday night when a man from the same village picked her up. When the family did not find the girl on her bed at night, they searched for her in the village as well as in nearby places. The girl was found by her family members near a tube well in the fields 1 km away from the village on Wednesday morning. The family members then informed the police who reached the spot and admitted the girl to the Government Medical College Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh S said that the family members of the victim based on suspicion lodged a case of kidnapping and rape against an elderly person in the village. "During the preliminary inquiry, it was revealed that the person named in the FIR was not involved. After this the police received information that one Sanjay alias Sanju committed the crime," he said. He said that on Wednesday night Sanju had an encounter with the police during which he sustained a bullet injury. "Police personnel Anil Kumar was also injured in the encounter," he said. The SP said that during interrogation Sanju revealed that he scaled the wall of the house and kidnapped the girl.
