Chennai, July 26 (Reporter) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will land this evening on a two-day
visit to Tamil Nadu during which he would inaugurate the new Terminal building at Tuticorin
airport and launch a slew of projects, giving a big boost to the inrastrcutre and economic
development.
An official release said Mr Modi upon his arrival around 8.00 pm tonight, will lay foundation
stone, inaugurate and dedicate to the nation various development projects worth over
Rs 4800 crores in the southern Tuticorin district of the State.
After inaugurating the new Terminal building at Tuticorin airport, Mr Modi will dedicate to
the nation multiple rail and road projects worth over Rs 3600 crore for efficient regional
connectivity
Apart from laying the foundation stone for the Inter-State Transmission System for Kudankulam
Nuclear Power Plant for electricity transmission, the Prime Minister would inaugurate the cargo
handling facility at V.O. Chidambaranar Port.
After the event, Mr Modi will leave for Tiruchirapalli for an overnight stay, where he was expected
to meet AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, with whose party the BJP has
revived its electoral ties for the crucial 2026 Assembly elections which was eight months away,
and also ousted AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam.
He was also expected to hold meeting with senior BJP leaders including Party State Unit Chief
and Legislature Party Leader Nainar Nagendran, his predecessor K Annamalai, BJP MLAs, district
secretaries, core committee members and functionaries on the poll preparedness.
Tomorrow, he would pariticipate in the Adi Thiruvaathirai festival at Ariyalur, in commemoration of
1000 years of maritime expedition of Rajendra Chola I to South East Asia and commencement
of construction of Gangaikondacholapuram temple.
"Immediately after returning from his visit to UK and Maldives, the Prime Minister will attend a
public event in which he would lay the foundation stone, inaugurate and dedicate to the nation
various development projects worth over Rs 4800 crore at Tuticorin at around 8 PM", it said.
On Sunday, Mr Modi will participate in the celebration of the birth anniversary of the great Chola
emperor Rajendra Chola I with the Aadi Thiruvathirai festival at around 12 noon at Gangaikonda
Cholapuram Temple at Ariyalure near Tiruchirappalli...////...
