New Delhi, Mar 28( UNI) Union Health Minister JP Nadda on Friday said Pradhan Mantari Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) is the world's largest health assurance scheme, covering over 50 crore people crore people in the country.
Responding to a question during 'Question Hour' in Lok Sabha, Nadda said, "Initially, it covered 50 crore people, but with the inclusion of a decade’s population growth based on Socioeconomic Caste Census (SECC) data and the National Food Security Act (NFSA), the coverage expanded to 55 crore people."
He added, "Additionally, 37.19 lakh families of Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and health helpers were included in Ayushman Arogya Yojana."
Over the conditions of AIIMS in the country, the Union Health Minister said, "PM Modi has opened 22 AIIMS in the country in his tenure and We are not going to compromise with the quality of AIIMS."
Under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), the government is setting up of 22 new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) across the country...////...
