Mumbai, May 26 (Reporter) Petrol and diesel prices, a key indicator of inflation for many households in Maharashtra, saw a slight decrease as new rates were announced at 6 AM on Monday. According to the latest data, petrol is now retailing at an average of 104.70 per litre, while diesel averages 91.24 per litre across the state—both reflecting a marginal drop from previous levels. Mumbai City continues to offer the lowest rate, with petrol priced at 103.50 per litre, while city-wise, petrol prices per litre are as follows: 104.89 in Ahmednagar, 104.18 in Akola, and 105.18 in Aurangabad. Several cities, including Hingoli, Jalna, Latur, Nanded, Parbhani, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Yavatmal, are reporting petrol prices at 105.50 per litre. Diesel prices also show a similar trend, ranging from 90.03 per litre in Mumbai City to 92.03 per litre in cities such as Hingoli, Jalna, Latur, Nanded, Parbhani, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Yavatmal. These daily fluctuations are primarily driven by global crude oil prices, as well as local factors including VAT, transportation costs, and municipal taxes, resulting in slight price variations across different cities.
