Jammu, July 27 (Reporter) The Pakistan Rangers on Saturday handed over the body of a youth found in a river in Sialkot, to the family after all legal formalities at Octroi Post along International Border in Ranbir Singh Pura Sector, some 35-km from here.
The family of a missing youth identified as Harsh Nagotra of Jourian, Akhnoor had appealed to the Prime Minister’s Office to help them in getting back the body for performing the last rites with all rituals.
Harsh Nagotra, was missing since June 11 and on June 13 his body was found in a river in Sialkot.
He allegedly committed suicide by jumping into river Chenab after losing Rs 80,000 in an online gaming.
As per the family, they received a whatsapp call from a civilian in Pakistan to identify the body from a photograph pasted on the ID card recovered from his pocket.
The family had appealed to the Government of India to coordinate with the Pakistan Government to get back the body of their son.
The body of Harsh as per reports was buried on June 15 in Sialkot, official sources said adding that the administration, considering appeal of the family, took up the matter at the right quarters.
“The Pak Rangers on Saturday handed over the body in the presence of police, BSF and administrative officials to the family at the Octroi Post in Ranbir Singh Pura Sector,” police sources said.
