Multan, Jan 26 (Reporter) Pakistan found themselves in a challenging position at the close of the second day of the second Test against the West Indies, with 178 runs required to win the match and clinch the series 2-0. After 14 wickets fell for 320 runs on day two, following 20 wickets for 317 runs on Saturday, Pakistan's run chase began with a shaky start. The West Indies, having gained a slender first-innings lead of nine runs, fought back strongly in their second innings, posting 244 allout in just two sessions. With Pakistan requiring 254 for victory, the visitors suffered an early collapse, reducing their score to 5 for 2 in just 16 balls. By the end of the day, Pakistan had recovered slightly to reach 76 for 4 from 24 overs. As the game resumes on Monday morning, Pakistan will need 178 more runs. All eyes will be on vice-captain Saud Shakeel, who remains at the crease with 13 runs. Shakeel contributed 32 runs in Pakistan's first innings. With him is nightwatchman Kashif Ali, who is yet to score, while Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha are still to bat. The day saw significant breakthroughs for the West Indies. Pakistan's captain Shan Masood was dismissed early, missing a straight delivery from off-spinner Kevin Sinclair and adjudged leg-before. His opening partner Mohammad Hurraira followed shortly after, trapped in front of the stumps by left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie while attempting a reverse sweep. Kamran Ghulam's brief stay ended after a failed shot off Jomel Warrican, and Babar Azam's dismissal before stumps left Pakistan in a precarious position at 71 for 4. Babar, who had been looking solid for his 31 runs off 67 balls, was caught at forward short-leg off Sinclair, putting Pakistan’s run chase on the back foot. Earlier, Pakistan's left-arm spinner Noman Ali had a memorable performance, following up his six-wicket haul in the first innings with four wickets in the second, finishing with match figures of 36.1-3-121-10. Noman’s victims included West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite, who top-scored for his side with 52 runs from 74 balls. Sajid Khan also contributed with the ball, claiming four wickets for 76 runs in the second innings, to finish with match figures of 6 for 140. His victims included Amir Jangoo (30), Kevin Sinclair (28), Gudakesh Motie (18), and Jomel Warrican (18). The match stands poised for an intriguing conclusion, with Pakistan needing a solid performance from their middle order to secure the 178 runs required on the final day...////...
