Patna, Apr 13 (Reporter) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday declared that his government was committed to working for all sections of society, and the scenario had changed in all spheres since he took over the reins of the state in 2005.
Kumar, while addressing " Bheem Samvad " organised here to pay tributes to the architect of the constitution, Baba Bheem Rao Ambedkar on his birth anniversary, said that his contribution in preparing the constitution was immense, which could never be forgotten. Baba Saheb was the voice of all those who were deprived and oppressed, he added.
" In congruent with vision and philosophy of Baba Saheb, our government has launched several schemes for upliftment of Dalits(oppressed) and Mahadalit(most oppressed) besides all other sections of the society ", Chief Minister said adding that steps were taken to improve the conditions of Extremely Backwards, Backwards and also poor among upper castes. Several schemes were also launched by his government to improve the condition of Muslims, he stressed amid much heat generated in political circles over his support for the Waqf Board Amendment Bill in parliament, which has now taken the shape of an Act.
Kumar said that the condition of women had also improved during the tenure of his government, following sustained efforts made in this connection. He exhorted
all stakeholders to work unitedly in changing the scenario in all sectors, particularly among those who lag behind the path of development.
" Bheem Samvad " was organised by the senior Minister of Nitish cabinet Ashok Choudhary, also an influential JD(U) leader from the oppressed section of society.
