One terrorist gunned down so far in Doda gunfight: J&K Police

Jammu, June 26 (Reporter) Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday confirmed that only one terrorist has been gunned down in an encounter in Gandoh area of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir. However, as per sources, two terrorists were reported to have been killed since morning in the combat operation that ensued a CASO. "One terrorist has been gunned down in the gunfight," said an official spokesperson. Additional Director General of Police Jammu Zone Anand Jain along wirh DIG Doda and SSP Doda were also at the spot. Official sources said that acting on a tip off, security forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) this morning in the Gandoh area. They said that joint team of Police and Army was fired upon by the hiding terrorists thus triggering the encounter. "Three to four terrorists were believed to be trapped in the encounter," it has been said. Doda has witnessed a series of terror attacks this month. Security forces on June 11-12 launched a combing operation in the Chattergala area of Bhaderwah and Tanta Top area of Gundoh following two terror-related incidents. On June 11, five army soldiers and one SPO of J&K Police were injured when terrorists fired upon them at Chattergala on the Bhaderwah-Bani road. On June 12 evening, a policeman was injured when hiding terrorists opened fire upon security forces in the forest area and fled. Four suspects were also detained in this connection...////...
