Shimla, Mar 4 (Reporter) Inclement weather took a life when a person was hit by a shooting stone in Kinnaur district Saturday morning, the state disaster management authority confirmed in a press statement issued on Monday. An incident of shooting stones occurred near Singular Sector 26 Tehsil Nichar, hitting one person who belonged to Kullu district. The deceased is identified as 27-year-old Madan. The district administration is restoring the Old Hindustan Tibet National Highway at Nigulsari. In the last 24 hours, the state also recorded half a dozen avalanches in the Kinnaur and Kullu districts, and a warning has been issued of more avalanches as six to seven-foot piles of snow mounted in the avalanche-prone areas may loom similar incidents in the mainly sunny weather on Monday. This precautionary information is for the general public of the district about some areas under Lahaul and Spiti district where the danger of glaciers will be high. Lahaul Spiti district administration issued an advisory to local people and tourists due to four to five avalanches that wreaked havoc in the tribal district. A warning is issued that the Attal Tunnel Rohtang at North Portal is safe inside the tunnel only; the parking area outside will be unsafe. Chandra Bridge North Portal, where there is a drain in the hill, is a highly avalanche-prone area. The field along the bridge towards Koksar, which has avalanche activities and a slight climb ahead of the cave hotel, is a very sensitive area along the river. The road was disrupted by an avalanche yesterday. Similarly, the area of the toll barrier from Chandra Bridge towards Sissu, the slope below Teling village, Teling nallah, and the drain near the dhabas beyond Teling drain are also avalanche-prone. The administration said people should not go beyond the nursery towards Koksar at all Labrang Zero Point and Shurtang Nalah. At Labrang Nala, the avalanche could come at the helipad zero point. Ahead of Shashin till Gompathang*, drain Chalang Nalah ahead of Gompathang, Ropsang Nalah Khorpani and Thorang Nalah Dalang Maidan Army Camp, Lather Nalah near Dalang, and the complete cover area of Moling Bridge Honphug, 500 metres ahead of the Petrol Pump, are also declared very sensitive. Tandi Bridge, from the market to the bridge, Beeling Nala Main Road the Upper Keylong Sulabh toilet drain and Shakas are also sensitive to excessive snowfall. The south portal of Rohtang Tunnel had 4.50 feet of snowfall; the north portal of Rohtang Tunnel, Kaza, Sisu, and Keylong had three feet of snowfall.
