One dead, four injured after portion of building collapses in Mumbai

Mumbai, July 20 (Reporter) One person was killed and four others were injured after a portion of a four-storey Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) building collapsed near Grant Road railway station in Mumbai on Saturday. The balcony and slab portions of the second and third floors of the building partially collapsed at around 11 am, leaving some sections hanging precariously, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. Atleast 8 residents who were stranded on the fourth floor of the building were rescued while Search & rescue operation is completed, BMC said. The deceased was identified as 80-year-old woman Veera Wadia who was declared dead before admission in the hospital. The injured are identified as Atul Shah-M/55 yrs, Niket Shah- M/26, Vijaykumar Nishad- M/25 yrs and Siddhesh Palija – M/30 yrs. The injured have been admitted in Bhatia Hospital and in Breach Candy Hospital and their condition is stated to be stable...////...
