Bhubaneswar, Jan 6 (Reporter) One more person injured in an outdoor AC explosion in the Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital here succumbed on Saturday taking the total toll in the accident to three.
At least four persons were injured on December 29 last during filling of an outdoor AC gas in the Hospital. Two of them succumbed to the burn injuries while two others were battling with the lives in the hospital.
One of the deceased was initially identified as Dillip Samanta Ray who succumbed to the injuries on December 31. His wife, unable to bear the loss of her husband, hanged herself to death a day after his death.
However, the confusion of the identity of the deceased surfaced when one of the injured named Jyoti Ranjan Mallick in the hospital record who was under ventilator when shifted from the ICU claimed that he was Dillip Samantray and not Jyaoti Ranjan Mallick.
The hospital authorities had earlier announced Dillip Samantray dead and handed over the body to his family members for last rites after the postmortem.
Meanwhile, the person who claimed himself to be Dillip Samantray succumbed to the burn injuries on Saturday.
The family members of both Jyotiranjan and Dillip have brought serious allegations against the Hospital management for the mess in the identity of the deceased.
Amid confusion of the identity, the hospital authority has handed over the body of the third victim to the police to undertake a DNA test to ascertain his real identity.
Meanwhile, the family members of Jyoti ranjan have demanded that his body should be handed over to them, raising question marks on the identity of the third victim.
Now only the DNA test will confirm whether the third victim who succumbed to the burn injuries this morning is Dillip Samantray or Jyoti Ranjan Mallick.
The family members of Dillip have stated that he was improving and questioned about his death accusing the hospital authorities of playing a mischievous game to hide their own fault...////...
