Odisha to install statues of 21 great personalities across the State: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar, June 11 (Reporter) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday announced that statues of 21 great personalities will be installed at various locations across the state in the coming days. Majhi said that, in addition to unveiling the statues, the government plans to establish memorial museums, interpretation centers, kindergartens, and other related infrastructure in the birthplaces of these eminent figures of Odisha. “We will develop their villages as model villages in about 100 to 150 locations across the state, where these great personalities were born,” Majhi stated. The Chief Minister made these announcements while interacting with the state’s national award winners, intellectuals, and volunteers on Wednesday night at the Convention Centre in Lok Seva Bhawan. He said that this year marks a year of fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the people and bridging the gap between the government and the common man. Majhi emphasized that the main objective of the government this year was to reach out to the people, and they have succeeded in this endeavor. “Starting from the budget, various schemes, and transparency in government work, people are evaluating all these efforts today,” he said. Majhi added that a year is just the beginning for a government and assured that efforts will continue in the coming days to project the cultural heritage of Odisha on a global stage. The Chief Minister also announced that the 125th birth anniversary of Harekrushna Mahatab, the first Chief Minister of independent Odisha, is being celebrated. Speaking at the event, Odia Language, Literature and Culture Minister Suryavansi Suraj said that Odisha has taken many steps to assert its own identity, thanks to the trust and strong will of the Chief Minister. On this occasion, the book “Sanskriti Ru Samrudhi” published by the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department was released under the patronage of the Chief Minister.
