Bhubaneswar, May 3 (Reporter) Three workers were killed and two others injured when a slab of an under-construction bridge over the river Kathajodi near Khannagar in Cuttack collapsed on Saturday. Reports said the slab collapsed while being moved by a crane, burying five workers on the spot. Local residents and fire service personnel rushed to the scene and rescued the workers. However, three of them were found dead, while the remaining two were shifted to the hospital in critical condition. The deceased have been identified as Soumya Ranjan Behera, Sibasankar Patnaik, and Subhas Chandra Bhakta. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed grief over the incident and conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families. He announced a compensation of Rs.5 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the next of kin of the deceased.
