Bhubaneswar, Mar 30 (Reporter) A Special train carrying the stranded passengers of the derailed 12551 Bangalore-Kamakhya AC Superfast Express left for Kamakhya on Sunday evening after resumption of services.
The movement of trains was affected after 11 coaches of the 12551 Bangalore-Kamakhya AC Superfast Express got derailed near Nergundi station of the Khurda Road Division of East Coast Railway at around 11-54 am on Sunday.
East Coast Railway sources said no injuries or casualties have been reported.
Following the derailment, train movement on the down line was affected.
Upon receiving the information, General Manager (GM), of East Coast Railway and Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Khurda Road along with other senior railway officials rushed to the site to oversee the situation and coordinate relief operations.
Accident relief and medical relief trains were immediately dispatched to the location to ensure passenger safety and facilitate restoration work. A special train has been arranged to transport the stranded passengers to their respective destinations.
Detained passengers were provided with drinking water, snacks and food packets.
Personnel of the NDRF, Fire Brigade, police and local people distributed food and water to the stranded passengers and participated in the rescue and relief work.
The ECOR issued a helpline number for passenger assistance at Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Khurda Road, Bhadrak, Palasa,and Jajpur, and Keonjhar Road.
To ensure minimal disruption of railway operations, five down trains from Bhubaneswar towards Bhadrak will be diverted via Barang-Nergundi-Kapilas Road instead of the usual Cuttack-Kendrapara Road-Nergundi route, ECOR sources said.
The trains which would be diverted are 12822 Puri-Howrah Dhauli Express,12875 Puri-Anand Vihar Neelachal Express,22606 Tirunelveli-Purulia Express,12704 Secunderabad-Howrah Falaknuma Express and 12513 Secunderabad-Silchar Express...////...
