Bhubaneswar, Jan 17 (Reporter) The Odisha government on Friday signed a series of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with various Singaporean entities to enhance collaboration in key sectors.
The MoUs were signed during the visit of Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam to the World Skill Center in Bhubaneswar. This event marked a significant milestone in the growing partnership between Singapore and the state of Odisha.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed enthusiasm for the deepening ties, stating, “There is tremendous potential for collaboration between Singapore and Odisha.”
State Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja gave a detailed presentation to the Singapore President, covering key themes such as skill development, industrial parks, master planning, ports and Paradip, renewable energy, semiconductors, information technology, data centers, culture, and connectivity.
The presentation highlighted Odisha’s initiatives and opportunities for collaboration with Singapore in these crucial sectors.
During the visit, President Shanmugaratnam toured the Vertical Transportation Lab and Travelator Lab at the World Skill Center and interacted with students and instructors, showcasing Odisha’s commitment to fostering technical education and innovation.
A series of MoUs were exchanged between the Government of Odisha and various Singaporean entities on projects such as industrial parks, the Green Hydrogen Corridor, the Petrochemical and Petroleum Investment Region (PCPIR), the development of a new city, renewable energy, strengthening the FinTech ecosystem, and advancing the skill landscape, including skill development in the semiconductor sector.
Official sources said Shanmugaratnam expressed admiration for Odisha’s efforts in advancing skill development and fostering innovation.
