Odisha: Kalinga Studio to be developed as a Fully Modern, Self-Contained Studio: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar, Jun 2 (Reporter) The Kalinga Studio will be developed into a fully modern, self-contained studio, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced. Majhi made the announcement after visiting the Kalinga Studio on Sunday. Established in 1980, the studio once earned a reputation as the only facility in Eastern India equipped with advanced film production technology. However, over time, demand for the studio decreased due to a lack of modern equipment and technical tools. After the new government took office, the Chief Minister directed departmental officers to prioritize the modernization of the studio. According to his instructions, in the first phase, several upgrades have been completed, including the tech building, entrance plaza, indoor shooting system, Kalinga Movie Magic, Avenue Land, Village Area, Iconic Landmark, Snow World, Community Hall, bamboo structures, Water Body, green areas, and more. The Chief Minister has directed departmental officers to complete the remaining work as soon as possible. The development work is being carried out by IDCO. Majhi emphasized that the studio’s development is essential for the growth of Odia films. He said it will be transformed into a self-contained studio equipped with all the latest facilities and that further plans will be developed after discussions with film industry stakeholders. Industry and Skill Development Minister Sampada Charan Swain accompanied the Chief Minister during the studio visit.
