Kendrapara, Dec 24(Reporter)The Forest personnel of Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary have arrested 17 fishermen on the charges of catching fish unauthorisedly inside the “No Fishing Zone “ of the Sanctuary. Rajnagar Mangrove Forest and Wildlife Division, DFO Sudarshan Gopinath Jadav said the fishermen were arrested on Monday. The forest personnel have seized four VHF sets, 1 GPS set, 3 trawling nets, and 15 quintals of marine fish catch from the possessions of arrested fishermen. All the arrested fishermen were booked under Section 27,29,31 of Wildlife (Protection) Act,1972 and later produced before the JMFC court of Rajnagar which remanded them into jail custody...////...
