Chennai, Sep 18 (UI) A notorious gangster was shot dead in an encounter with the police at Vyasarpadi in North Chennai ln Wednesday morning. A special police team went to nab the rowdy 'Kakathope' Balaji, who was wanted in more than 50 cases including murder and attempt to murder cases. When he attacked the police and tried to escape, police opened fire in self defence killing him on the spot. His body was shifted to Government Royapettah hospital for post mortem.
