Patna, Mar 8 (Reporter) Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday came down heavily on previous regime for doing nothing concrete to empower women , saying only his government had taken a number of steps for women empowerment after coming to power in 2005 in Bihar. Kumar while addressing a function organised to mark international women's day at his party office here said that no previous regime before 2005 had done something concrete for women empowerment in Bihar. " Women are making progress in all sectors including health, education, and other government services, due to opportunities given to them by our government", Chief Minister said adding that women were given 35 percent reservation in government services including police recruitment. Bihar was the first state in the country to give 50 percent reservation to women in Panchayati Raj institutions and local bodies, he pointed out.
