Dhaka, Jan 16 (Reporter) Bangladesh has no information on whether former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been granted Indian citizenship, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said today. Addressing a weekly press briefing Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said that Hasina's status of stay New Delhi is an issue to be considered by the Indian government. He also said that currently Dhaka is awaiting India's reply regarding its new High Commissioner to India as Bangladesh has sought recognition. "We are waiting for India's reply. I don't think it is taking more time than usual. There is no specific timeframe but usually it is by three to four months," said the spokesperson, according to UNB. Regarding the signed deals of extradition between Bangladesh and India, he said these all documents are already in the public domain, apparently referring to Hasina’s reported visa extension. The interim government had earlier revoked the deposed Prime Minister’s passport along with that of 97 other individuals for their alleged involvement in the July killings and enforced disappearances. The 77-year-old Sheikh Hasina has been living in exile in India, ever since she fled there on August 5 last year following the massive ‘student uprising’. Several requests have been voiced by the new interim government in Dhaka to repatriate Hasina back to Bangladesh, including sending an official note verbale.
