NHRC notice to DGP Madhya Pradesh for assault on scribes

New Delhi, June 5 (Reporter) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to the Director General of Police, Madhya Pradesh, seeking a detailed report in the alleged assault of two journalists by cops in the State’s Bhind district. The Commission took suo motu cognizance of a press release issued by the Press Club of India, New Delhi, that the two journalists were brutally manhandled by the police in Bhind district allegedly, under the supervision of the district superintendent of police on May1, 2025. According to the PCI release on May 25, both scribes were further forced to record a video statement stating that all matters between them were resolved, the NHRC noted. In a statement issued on Thursday, the panel further said that if the contents of the press release were true, they raises a serious violation of the human rights of the victim journalists.
