New Delhi, May 3 (Reporter) National Commission for Women on Friday sought a report from the Maharashtra government following the death of a mother and child at Mumbai Civic Hospital due to negligence of authorities during operation.
Terming an incident as “tragic”, the commission said that allegations of the hospital's reliance on a cell phone torch for a caesarian delivery due to a power outage and the subsequent loss of life, are “deeply concerning”.
“This occurrence, in the nation's financial capital highlights serious issues in healthcare facilities in the state that demand immediate attention,” the Commission posted on X.
Urging for a thorough investigation into the matter, the Commission said, “It has written a letter to the Additional Chief Secretary, Public Healthcare Department of Maharashtra to submit a detailed report within three days.”
It further directed to take decisive action to address the underlying issues and prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future...////...
