Srinagar, Apr 4 (Reporter) Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday announced that National Conference and Congress would jointly fight the five seats of Lok Sabha in Jammu and Kashmir. He said this a day after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) announced that it would contest all three seats in the Valley. The announcement set the stage for the National Conference and the PDP — partners in the Opposition INDIA bloc — to take on each other on the three Lok Sabha seats in Kashmir. The Congress party is also part of the INDIA alliance partner. “ They (Congress) have assured us and made it clear that all the three candidates of NC will get their support.. In the next one or two days after going to Delhi, it’ll be clear that NC & Congress will fight together on five seats in J&K,” Omar told reporters in Srinagar. He said NC President Farooq Abdullah has already started campaigning for the two Congress candidates in Jammu region. “My programme will also start and our effort will be that in both seats of Jammu and Udhampur Congress candidates should win. And the same way Congress has assured that wherever in Kashmir they will utilize their influence to ensure the win of the NC candidates,” Omar said. On AAP leader Sanjay Singh’s bail in the Delhi excise policy case, the NC Vice President said he hoped that Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Manish Sisodia will also get bail. “The important thing is that the court observed that evidence was not produced for keeping Sanjay Singh in jail. This is the same case in which Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia have been arrested and we hope that they also get bail,” he said Earlier, Omar while addressing a function of the youth wing of the party said that every citizen should remember August 5, 2019- when J&K was scrapped of its special status- while casting their votes. "Your vote will decide if you affirm the decisions of August 5 or oppose them. For those who do not accept these decisions it is better to vote for the National Conference because this vote will be a message to the Union government," the former CM said. He added that NC was being targeted for advocating rights of the people in Jammu and Kashmir The NC Vice President exhorted party's youth wing functionaries to repeat 1977 victory by defeating New Delhi's representatives, and sending peoples' representatives to Parliament. "Senior leaders and former ministers of our party are without security and when we ask for it, we are told that no security personnel are available. Here is the irony. Those who start abusing us are provided with accommodation and vehicles within two days and even envelopes are delivered to their home in the evening. There is no shortage of PSO's for such people. Is it our fault that we did not approve the decisions of 5th August 2019? Is it our fault that we say we will fight for the rights of the people here?” Omar asked. He said that what NC says in Kashmir, they say the same things in Jammu, and the same in Delhi...////...
