National hockey player found dead in Bhakra canal

Patiala, May 6 (Reporter) A 21-year-old national-level hockey player, Sumandeep Kaur, has reportedly taken her life by jumping into the Bhakra Canal following a tiff with her brother and sister-in-law, police said. A case has been registered against the brother and sister-in-law on the father's complaint. Jaspal Singh told the police that his daughter, Sumandeep, was studying MA in Punjab University. She was distressed by the ill-treatment meted out to her by his son Vikramjit Singh and his wife Pinky. The police said her bother has been arrested while they are on the lookout for Pinky.
