Chennai, Apr11 (Reporter) BJP Legislature Party leader Nainar Nagendran on Friday filed his papers
for the election to the post of Party Tamil Nadu Unit President.
His candidature was proposed by top BJP leaders including incumbent President K Annamalai,
senior leaders like Union Minister L Murugan,former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnn, BJP MLA
Ms Vanathi Srinivasan, H Raja and others.
He filed his papers before BJP State Vice-President and Election Officer M Chakravarthy at the party
headquarters 'Kamalalayam', where a large number of party cadres were present and greeted him.
Greeting started pouring to Mr Nagendran even before he filed his papers.
Mr Nainar Nagendran, who was elected from the southern Tirunelveli to the State Assembly in 2021,
is the only candidate to have filed his papers and he was all set to be elected unopposed.
His election as the 13th BJP President of TN was expected to be announced by the BJP High Command.
He emerged as the front runner after Mr Annamalai categorically stated that he was not in the race
in the elections for next BJP TN Unit Chief post and would serve the party as an ordinary cadre.
He said those candidates who had served as a primary member of the party for a minimum period
of ten years alone would qualify to contest for the post of President's elections and they should be proposed by 10 State General Council members in writing.
The BJP was expected to amend the rules to clear the path for Mr Nainar Nagendran, who had
been with the party since 2016, after being in the AIADMK for a long period.
They said BJP Tirunelveli MLA and Floor Leader in the State Assembly Nainar Nagendran has emerged as the front runner for the post of BJP TN Chief and this was said to have been almost decided after his visit to New Delhi a few days back where he met the top party leadership...////...
