Seoul, Oct 7 (Reporter) North Korea launched around 120 trash balloons toward South Korea on Monday, days after a similar, but bigger, launch, South Korean news agency Yonhap reported, citing South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).
Around 80 trash bags landed around parts of Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi-do province, the JCS said. No harmful substances have been found in the bags that contained household garbage such as paper, plastic bags and bottles, the military added.
On Friday, the JCS said that Pyongyang launched some 320 balloons toward South Korea.
The latest launches bring the total number of balloons sent toward South Korea to more than 5,000, according to the media report. The South Korean military has opposed shooting down the balloons to avoid causing damage to civilians from falling debris.
North Korea has launched thousands of trash balloons into South Korea since late May in response to South Korean activists sending propaganda leaflets across the border. South Korea then resumed propaganda broadcasts through loudspeakers on the border with North Korea...////...
