Chandigarh, Dec 15 (Reporter) The BJP MP Ramchandra Jangra on Saturday sought to clarify his alleged controversial remarks about farmers' agitation saying the remarks were misinterpreted.
Jangra said that it was at the function of a sugar mill, he had given a detailed speech and some things were misinterpreted.
He said that in fact he had praised the farmers and had said that the farmers for ensuring food security to the country should stay away from protests as such long agitations result in bad effects.
He said that many factories were closed in border areas of Delhi and the girls, who come to Delhi from many other states searching for jobs, disappeared due to trafficking by bad elements, who took advantage of unemployment and scarcity of jobs for these girls. He said that he never alleged any farmers.
About his alleged remarks of drug menace spreading in Haryana from Punjab, he said that it was also in a different context. He said that he had stated that before 2021, cigarettes and bidis were there
in Haryana but not drugs. He said that Punjab, being a border state, drugs were being smuggled there from Pakistan. Drug peddlers, looking for new markets, found a potential in Haryana. He said that during the period as the police and administration were involved
in handling law and order situations due to farmers' agitation, the drug menace spread.
He said that he was not blaming farmers or anyone from Punjab in particular.
