Mumbai blast case: Cops told to probe clicking of accused photo while in custody

Mumbai, April 21 (Reporter) A special court has asked the Navi Mumbai police commissioner to probe a complaint by an accused in the Mumbai triple blast case alleging that a police team brought him and others from Taloja jail to the sessions court after taking his photographs while in judicial custody, a lawyer said on Monday. Nadeem Akhtar, facing trial for the 2011 triple blasts in Mumbai, told the special court earlier this month that while he and others were being brought to court, two head constables from the police team began taking photos of the accused on his phone. Akhtar has completed his LLB from University of Mumbai while in jail. He has contended that he apprehended that police could use the photographs to identify him during an identification parade due shortly. The court directed the new Mumbai police chief to conduct a probe and submit a report. The July 13, 2011 Mumbai triple blasts shook different locations in the financial capital of the country. The blasts occurred at Opera House, at Zaveri Bazar and Dadar West localities, leaving 26 people dead and 130 injured.
