MSRTC suspends bus service to neighbouring Karnataka state

Kolhapur, Feb 22 (Reporter) Maharashtra State Road Transport (MSRTC) has suspended its bus service from Kolhapur to neighbouring Karnataka state this morning for assaulting a Marathi bus conductor for not speaking Kannada. Workers of Kannada Rakshak Vedika (KRV) stopped a state transport bus at Chitradurga, which was on its way to Kolhapur, and asked the conductor, Bhaskar Jadhav, whether he spoke Kannada; as he said no, he was assaulted by KRV workers with smear black colour on his face on ST bus. MSRTC sources said all ST buses going from the Kolhapur depot have been suspended to Karnataka state following the tense situation in the neighbouring Belgaum district nearby with the state border following an advisory by state police. Meanwhile, ST employees refused to go in Karnataka if they did not get protection.
