Panna, Jan 30 (Reporter) At least three workers were killed and around two dozen injured after a scaffolding at JK Cement factory collapsed during construction work in Panna district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday.
The incident occurred when labourers were laying a ceiling slab of the under-construction building, resulting in the collapse of the scaffolding they were standing on.
Talking to UNI, an official of Pawai in Panna district confirmed the death of three workers in the incident.
Reports said that around two dozen workers have been injured, and efforts are being made to gather information from factory management.
Meanwhile, police sources said that construction work was going on in the premises of JK Cement Factory, spread over several acres in the Simaria police station area, about 50 km from here.
Centring, slabs, and other construction material suddenly fell during the construction work of a large building around 10 am. Due to this, many workers were buried.
Rescue and relief operations have been initiated at the site, with police and administration officials also reaching the spot.
Sources said that the identity of the deceased and injured workers could not be ascertained at the moment, and an investigation is underway.
Local MP and BJP state president Vishnudutt Sharma has directed the district administration to provide immediate relief to the victims at the cement factory accident.
In a statement, Sharma said that he has discussed with the district administration in this regard and has directed the administration to provide immediate assistance in the accident.
'Instructions have been given to provide better medical treatment to the injured,' Sharma added.
