Monsoon session of Bihar Legislature begins Monday

Patna, July 21 (Reporter) With opposition parties gearing up to corner the government on the deteriorating law and order situation and other issues, the Monsoon session of the Bihar legislature beginning Monday is all set to be stormy. The Monsoon session of Bihar Legislature will continue till July 26. Apart from the government placing the first supplementary budget for the financial year 2024-25, important bills are scheduled to be taken up in both Houses of the state legislature. The oath would be administered to newly elected MLAs in by-elections held in Agiaon and Rupauli on the opening day of the session. Shiv Prakash Ranjan of CPI(ML) was elected from Agiaon while Shankar Singh, Independent, was elected from the Rupauli seat. Constituents of the INDIA bloc had staged a statewide protest march on Sunday against poor law and order situation in Bihar. Opposition leaders expressed their anger over the murder of Jeetan Sahni, father of VIP chief Mukesh Sahni in Darbhanga on June 15. They also made their intention clear to corner the government during the Monsoon session of the legislature. The collapse of a series of bridges recently in the state is another important issue, likely to be raised by the opposition in the House. Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Dilip Jaiswal told media persons that the opposition had no moral right to talk about the law and order situation in the state.
