On the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar, the Mohan government of Madhya Pradesh made a historic decision during a cabinet meeting held in Maheshwar, the city of Ahilyabai in Khargone district. This decision, widely appreciated across the state, imposed a ban on liquor in 19 religious towns and village panchayats. Additionally, the government reaffirmed that the existing liquor ban within a five-kilometer radius on both sides of the sacred Narmada River would continue. This day also marked a significant milestone in the history of Madhya Pradesh, as the cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, approved and implemented the Devi Ahilya Nari Shaktikaran Mission, a visionary initiative aimed at ensuring the comprehensive socio-economic empowerment of women in the state.
