Hyderabad, June 18 (Reporter) In a significant move to improve access to grievance redressal mechanisms, the Telangana government has introduced a new four-digit toll-free number – 1916 – for lodging complaints related to rural drinking water issues under Mission Bhagiratha.
Previously, citizens had to use an 11-digit toll-free number (1800-599-4007) to register complaints, which posed difficulties, especially for residents in rural areas.
Acting on the directions of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Seethakka, the department has now replaced the 11-digit number with a shorter and more user-friendly number.
The new number, 1916, is expected to make it easier for people to quickly report issues related to drinking water supply across the state.
