Malappuram, June 26 (Reporter) A 62-year-old passenger travelling on board the Millennium Express from Thrissur, Kerala, to New Delhi has succumbed to injuries days after a berth above him crashed breaking bones in his neck, Railway and hospital authorities said.
The deceased M Ali Khan's mortal remains were brought back to his home village Maranchery here on Tuesday night and his funeral was conducted Wednesday morning, family sources said.
Khan boarded the train along with a friend from Thrissur on June 15. He was asleep on the lower berth on June 16, when around 5.30 pm as the train reached Ramagundam near Warangal, Telangana, the middle berth above him gave way along with the passenger on it.
Khan fractured three bones in his neck, an official said. Railway officials rushed him to a primary health centre at Ramagundam and then shifted him to Warangal district hospital in an ambulance arranged by railway authorities.
He was later shifted to KIMS Multispeciality hospital in Hyderabad, his family said. His brothers Abdullakutty and Ummer visited Warangal hospital on June 17, and took him to Kims for further treatment.
Khan succumbed to his injuries on Monday following three surgeries at KIMS on June 21, the family said...////...
