Mexico City, Mar 19 (Reporter) Mexico is fast-tracking measures to protect local businesses from potential U.S. tariffs, Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard said Tuesday. Addressing an event for the "Made in Mexico (Hecho en Mexico)" certification, Ebrard said the initiative aims to ensure fair competition and prevent unfair trade practices. "We are accelerating the program to support Mexican companies that export, compete and innovate," he told reporters. The Mexican government is working with industry leaders to prepare a response to U.S. President Donald Trump's threat of broad tariffs in April, Ebrard said, warning that higher trade barriers will have significant economic consequences.
