MCG to host first-ever D/N women's Test

Melbourne, Mar 26 (Reporter) In a significant milestone for women's cricket, the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will host a day-night Test match for the first time, featuring Australia and England in the Women's Ashes. The historic significance is further highlighted by the fact that it will be the first Women’s Test match at the MCG since 1949, featuring the same two teams. Scheduled to commence on 30 January 2025, this one-off Test will serve as the concluding leg of the Women’s Ashes series. Preceding the Test match, the series will kick off with three ODIs on January 12, followed by three T20Is starting on January 20. The Women’s Ashes series operates on a multi-format points system, where a Test win earns four points, a draw earns two points, and each limited-overs match win earns two points as well. Australia currently holds the Women’s Ashes title, having shared an intense series in England that ended with both teams tied at 8-8.
