New Delhi, Jan 12 (Reporter) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi secured the 90th position among 446 urban local bodies in the cleanliness survey, leaving nearly 67 cities behind compared to last year's survey when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled MCD, AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak said on Friday here. Addressing the media, AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak said, "During the Bharatiya Janata Party’s rule, Delhi was at 157th rank in the cleanliness survey; it has now secured 90th position within eight months. Among cities with a population of more than 10 lakh, Delhi ranked 28th, he added, stating that earlier, under this survey, Delhi used to secure the 42nd or 44th position. "This all happened within 8 months under the leadership of AAP convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. This achievement is the outcome of Arvind Kejriwal’s efforts towards making Delhi a cleaner city," he said. Criticizing the BJP, he mentioned that making Delhi a cleaner city is not easy because, in the last 15 years, the BJP finished the cleaning facility in the city by not giving salaries to 'Safai Karamchaaris.' We have given salaries to the Safai Karamchaaris (cleaning staff) almost after 13 years. AAP is now initiating a door-to-door waste collection facility in Delhi. Pathak further highlighted this, adding, "We have identified almost 500 colonies in Delhi under the door-to-door waste collection initiative. After the success of the first phase of this initiative, we will run a campaign all over Delhi.” “I believe our rank will improve again in next year's survey. We will be among the top five cities soon; that day is not far away," he said. Speaking about seat-sharing within the INDIA Alliance, Pathak said that discussions are underway positively, and our mission is to address issues related to unemployment, women's security, and the economy.
