Palakkad, June 19 (Reporter) A 61-year- old man was trampled to death by a wild elephant at a residential area at Nharakode near Mundoor early on Thursday. According to police, the deceased was identified as Kumaran. The incident occurred past midnight when Kumaran went outside to use the bathroom adjoining his house. Suddenly a wild elephant attacked Kumaran and he died on the spot. Forest officials said, this elephant was driven back to the forest only on Wednesday. He was trampled to death and his mother Vijaya (44) sustained injuries on April 6. Local residents have urged officials to fence the areas immediately and that they should be allowed to use rubber bullets on wild elephants to thwart further attacks. Forest officials are currently camping in the area to track the elephant and guide it back to the nearby Valayar forest in order to prevent further danger to the local population...////...
