Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that students of state should have access to world-class education within Madhya Pradesh itself. This would reduce the need for students to go abroad for higher studies and would allow them to experience an academic environment of international quality at the local level. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing a high-level meeting held on Wednesday at the ‘Sushasan Bhavan’. The state government is now taking decisive steps to place Madhya Pradesh on the global education map. A special task force will be set up to establish study centres of international universities. Orders in this regard will be issued soon.

Officials of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis said that significant progress is being made. Active discussions are underway with two world-renowned universities of the United States, Arizona State University (ASU) and Purdue University, along with Taiwan’s prestigious Asia University, for setting up their study centres in Madhya Pradesh. These world-class institutions hold global recognition in fields of education, research and innovation. Continuous dialogue with top leadership of these universities is taking place at the government level to accelerate the process and realise emerging possibilities.

The state government aims to improve overall quality of higher education through establishment of such centres. Students will have access to international courses in engineering, AI, data science, health-care science, management and other emerging technological fields. Local industries, startups and innovation ecosystem will also benefit from expert knowledge and joint research programmes.

Professor Santosh Vishwakarma is being nominated as chairperson of the task force. This task force will examine all technical, academic and legal aspects related to establishment of study centres of international universities. It will also expedite the process of agreements to be signed with these institutions. Successful negotiations will position Madhya Pradesh as one of the most attractive and ideal destinations in the country for higher education, where a broad academic network of global universities will offer new opportunities and new directions to state’s talent.

The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis is presently working on several strategic initiatives required for the state’s rapid growth in areas such as future higher-education institutions, semiconductors, quantum technology, artificial intelligence, agri-tech and other innovative sectors. To meet demands of these highly specialised and constantly evolving fields, national and international experts are being engaged to provide subject-specific guidance, high-level scientific advice and strategic direction. Their involvement will strengthen institute’s capacity and reinforce planning, execution and monitoring in these priority areas.

The meeting was attended by the institute’s vice-chairman Dr. Rajiv Dixit, Principal Secretary and Chief Executive Officer Gulshan Bamra, Director Rishi Garg and other officials.
