New Delhi, Oct 15 (Reporter) The Election Commission will announce the schedule for Assembly polls for Maharashtra and Jharkhand today.
The Commission will hold a press conference at 3:30 PM today at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, ECI said in a statement.
"Election Commission of India to announce the schedule for general election to legislative assemblies of Maharashtra and Jharkhand 2024," it said.
The term of the Maharashtra legislative assembly ends on November 26, while the Jharkhand assembly will expire on January 5, 2025.
In 2019, Jharkhand’s assembly election was held in five phases, while Maharashtra completed polling in a single phase.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has started seat-sharing talks with its allies, such as Nitish Kumar's JDU and the AJSU (All Jharkhand Students Union) Party.
Jharkhand BJP Election InCharge Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the seat-sharing arrangement among NDA partners for the assembly elections was "almost final" and the first list of candidates would be announced within 48 hours of the declaration of the polls."...////...
