Maha: Woman dies, 6 hospitalised after fire breaks in Mumbai residential building

Mumbai, Apr 26 (Reporter) A 34-year-old woman died, and six others were hospitalised after a fire broke out early Saturday morning in a Mumbai residential building located at Broke Land Building, near Ashok Academy Lane in Lokhandwala, Andheri (West). The fire erupted around 2:39 am and was reported by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)'s Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) at approximately 3:13 am. According to fire officials, the fire was confined to a flat on first floor of the ground-plus-eight-storey building. The fire affected electric wiring, electric installations, split and window AC units, wooden furniture, documents, mattresses, clothes and other household items. A total of seven people suffered smoke inhalation during the incident. They were promptly rescued by firefighters and transported to nearby hospitals, including Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Cooper Hospital and Trauma Hospital, Woman Abhina Kartik Sanjanvalia who suffered from smoke suffocation and was declared dead before admission in the hospital. Injured are identified as Aparna Gupta, Daya Gupta, Rihan Gupta, Pradumna, Kartik Sanjayvalia and Polam Gupta. The fire was extinguished at 5:30 am.
