Maha: Rohini Khadse writes to President demanding pardon for women for one murder

Mumbai, Mar 8 (Reporter) Maharashtra NCP (SP) women's wing president, Rohini Khadse, has written a letter to President Draupadi Murmu demanding that women be forgiven for one murder, creating a stir in political circles. On occasion of Women's Day on Saturday, she has sent the letter to the President. A copy of the same was uploaded on social media. In the said letter, she has sought to draw attention of President Murmu to the safety of women in the current situation. While referring to recent gangrape of a 12-year-old girl in Mumbai, Ms Khadse has demanded that women be forgiven for one murder. Citing findings of an international survey report, she said that the report has recently been published which stated that India is the most unsafe country for women in the Asian continent. This survey has also taken into account many factors such as the rate of disappearance of women, kidnapping and domestic violence. She further said in the letter that when the country was in crisis, historical figures like Maharani Tarabai and Ahilyadevi Holkar also took up the sword. "So why should we lag behind when bad tendencies are increasing in society," she stated. "We hope that you will accept our demand after giving due consideration to our demand.
